Camilla M Whittington
I study the convergent evolution and biology of pregnancy and placentation. My group uses comparative and evolutionary approaches to investigate these traits across less traditional model organisms, including marsupials, monotremes, and sharks. Our current work focuses on Australian lizards and male-pregnant seahorses.
I completed my PhD at the University of Sydney in 2011 and was a Fulbright Fellow at Washington University. Following postdoctoral work, including at the University of Zurich, I received a Mabs Melville Fellowship and joined the University of Sydney as a continuing academic. In 2021, I was awarded the Ross Crozier Medal for outstanding mid-career genetics research in Australasia.
